On Your Mark, Get Set....GO! NaNoWriMo has begun!

NaNoWriMo has begun!

That's right! National Novel Writers Month began a minute ago and my roommate is typing away on her story as we "speak."

What is NaNo? Well...it's when a bunch of people around the world, who love to write, decide to throw away a social life for the month of November, and try to write a 50,000 word novella (or 50K of a novel...for novels are longer than just 50K, let's be honest). In cities all over the globe, there are groups that meet up daily to have write-ins either in person or online, gathering in the chat room for their area vs. in person at a café who doesn't mind 5-30 people with laptops taking up space while they drink a lot of coffee/tea and eat sugar and carbs.

YAY FOR SUGAR, CARBS, AND CAFFEINE!

This is my 5th year doing NaNo and I've logged in that I'm writing The Mark of the Necromancer. However, in reality, I'm editing Duality of Surrender and my ML's (those in charge of your area) know this. I wrote most of Duality during the last NaNo...so I really don't wanna list it again...that would seem odd to me...so instead, I listed the other. My feeling is, if I can edit through 126K in 30 days and get it to submission guidelines word count, that equates to writing 50K. The book was 132K right after I finished it...so I've already cut 6000 words...now to cut as many more as possible.

Why?

Because I was asked for a full manuscript by an editor at a large publisher for this Contemporary Romance novel...and I want to get it to her before the year is out.

So...wish me luck! Since I'm editing, I won't be able to do that on my iPad...so it'll all need to be done either on my work computer during my lunch breaks, after hours, and at home...you know, where the puppy is, staring at me like, why are you sitting there staring at yet another glowing object and not playing with me!?

Thus why I'm asking for some luck to come my way...cause I have NO idea how I'm getting this book to 90K.

Take care out there WriMo's....I won't see you all as much this time around, but know that I'll be busting my ass!

xoxo

Tamsin :)

Hello! I know it's been awhile...but it was summer and people get busy. Plus, we had some sound issues to fix with the end scene of the episode. So please forgive us for the delay on EP. 6.

What to say about this episode...hmmmm...I guess what I should say is this one makes me the most proud, out of all of them, my DP, Nyle, and the cast. The sound problem (we had a new sound engineer for that last scene and we'll just say it got sorta fubarred) was with the quality of the stoop scene. When I heard the first draft of it, the whole thing was echoey (is that a word?) at best. Then I saw the version you're about to see and it sounds like nothing ever went wrong. I was astounded! Plus, the camera angles he used on this episode are just fantastic. So a HUGE standing ovation for Nyle on this episode. He saved us from refilming it. Honestly. Plus, I love how he's crafted the eye of the viewer this time around.

As far as the cast goes...each character gets to shine just a bit in this episode, with lines that help show as much about their characters as watching their unsaid lines do. The amount of excellent inner dialogue my cast exudes in this is phenominal! I couldn't be happier with their work! What does this mean for you? I highly suggest watching it more than once to catch things. It could be just a look here or there, or a way a line is said that hints to something later on...trust me, at least watch it twice.

Lastly, I suppose my other fun fave item is the musical artist on this episode. I've been a fan of Ayria since 2010 I think? Anyway, the fact that she gave us the rights to use her song, "My Poison," which REALLY fits the show and episode, has my inner fan girl bouncing in my office chair. LOL!

Anyway...I've rambled enough I suppose. SO...here are your links! ENJOY the hard work of the talented folks I have the honor of working with!

Best,

Tamsin :)

Hello Everyone! Episode Five is LIVE! Wooooooot!

I love this episode! It's actually the most recent one we filmed and we did so in Brooklyn at this amazing loft in Bushwick. One of the reasons I'm so happy/proud with it is not only because it has some GREAT fight work in it, but we had two very full days of shooting that went pretty smoothly considering there were a minimum of 50 people on set each day (counting cast, guest stars, fighters, extras, and crew). It was our biggest episode yet (we had two, 4-hour fight rehearsals just to prep for it) as well! Things were also tricky because our DP (Nyle Cavazos Garcia) now lives in LA, so it changed how we worked as a team. Plus, he was directing this episode instead of me, so that also tweaked the usual flow. However, I think it did so for the better. It was really lovely to work with the actors and assist the director with things vs. direct the show. I sincerely think that writing and producing is plenty and I plan to step away from directing on the show for the rest of the season and likely the next season as well. I'll still be on set, but my hats go from around four, to two...much better.

Oh, and I also happen to adore this one because we introduce the world of SKYE! You get to meet a lot of new characters that I've known about for over a year and a half (and were cast ages ago). Specifically the characters, Declan Sinclair (played by Hunter Thore) and Hayden Fletcher (played by Philip de la Cal). Plus, I was able to bring in a special guest star, Melissa Silver (no, no relation), who I have worked with before and has an impressive IMDb page.

Now, without further ado...here is Episode 5!
