NaNoWriMo has begun!
That's right! National Novel Writers Month began a minute ago and my roommate is typing away on her story as we "speak."
What is NaNo? Well...it's when a bunch of people around the world, who love to write, decide to throw away a social life for the month of November, and try to write a 50,000 word novella (or 50K of a novel...for novels are longer than just 50K, let's be honest). In cities all over the globe, there are groups that meet up daily to have write-ins either in person or online, gathering in the chat room for their area vs. in person at a café who doesn't mind 5-30 people with laptops taking up space while they drink a lot of coffee/tea and eat sugar and carbs.
YAY FOR SUGAR, CARBS, AND CAFFEINE!
This is my 5th year doing NaNo and I've logged in that I'm writing The Mark of the Necromancer. However, in reality, I'm editing Duality of Surrender and my ML's (those in charge of your area) know this. I wrote most of Duality during the last NaNo...so I really don't wanna list it again...that would seem odd to me...so instead, I listed the other. My feeling is, if I can edit through 126K in 30 days and get it to submission guidelines word count, that equates to writing 50K. The book was 132K right after I finished it...so I've already cut 6000 words...now to cut as many more as possible.
Why?
Because I was asked for a full manuscript by an editor at a large publisher for this Contemporary Romance novel...and I want to get it to her before the year is out.
So...wish me luck! Since I'm editing, I won't be able to do that on my iPad...so it'll all need to be done either on my work computer during my lunch breaks, after hours, and at home...you know, where the puppy is, staring at me like, why are you sitting there staring at yet another glowing object and not playing with me!?
Thus why I'm asking for some luck to come my way...cause I have NO idea how I'm getting this book to 90K.
Take care out there WriMo's....I won't see you all as much this time around, but know that I'll be busting my ass!
xoxo
